Lab 3 – Excel & Data Management

Excel – You will need Microsoft Excel for this class. The directions presented here are for PCs (if you use a Macintosh computer, Googling the issue can be helpful)

All UBalt students have access to Microsoft Excel through Office 365 (including those with Chromebooks, who can use the online version). You can access UB’s help page on this here: http://www.ubalt.edu/about-ub/offices-and-services/technology-services/o365/o365-student-qa.cfm

New to Excel? – Visit the following tutorials before getting started with this lab. You do not have to complete them, but reading through and familiarizing yourself with the basics of Excel will be very helpful for completing this lab.

Spreadsheet Tutorial 1 at https://www.hhmi.org/biointeractive/spreadsheet-tutorial-1-formulae-functions-and-averages and download the 88 KB Excel WS listed under Materials (not Google Sheets version).

Spreadsheet Tutorial 3 at https://www.hhmi.org/biointeractive/spreadsheet-tutorial-3-column-graphs-error-bars-and-standard-error-mean and download the 263 KB Excel WS listed under Materials (not Google Sheets version).

What to turn in – You will turn in your complete Excel sheet (answer the questions directly in your Excel sheet) to the Lab Assignment on Sakai. See your class calendar for the due date.
