**Starred items must be purchased as described for experimental consistency. Otherwise, if you already have a material on hand, for example, sugar, eggs, or milk, you may use the items you already have on hand.

Lab 2 – Snacks & Stats (estimated cost: $6)
- 4x 2.8 oz/79.4 g bags regular M&Ms (“share size”; ~$1.50 each)**
- 4x 2.8 oz/79.4 g bags peanut M&Ms (“share size”; ~$1.50 each)** (see note in lab if you cannot handle nuts)
Lab 4 – Photosynthesis (estimated cost: $22.30)
- 1 bag dry pinto beans ($1.30)
- Potting soil (8 qt bag is plenty; $5)
- 8x identical cups (plastic cups, mason jars, or drinking glasses are acceptable, if you already own those. Small, 3 oz “bathroom cups” are not acceptable; medium-large Solo cups work well) ($4 for Solo cups)
- Green light bulb ($3)
- Lamp (If needed; Incandescent clamped work light from Lowes – $9: https://www.lowes.com/pd/ProTorch-1-Watt-Incandescent-Clamped-Work-Light/1002622730)
Lab 8 – Enzymes (estimated cost: $8 – $20)
- Glucose test strips ($4 – available from Home Science Tools; https://www.homesciencetools.com/product/glucose-test-strips-10-pack/)**
- 1 quart whole milk ($2)
- White sugar/table sugar ($2)
- Lactase enzyme pills (commonly sold as “Lactaid” or “Dairy Relief”) ($12) (Note – the experiment only requires 2 lactase pills, so you may acquire some from a lactose intolerant friend if that option is available to you instead of buying an entire box)
Lab 9 – Diffusion (estimated cost: $19.50)
- 2x eggs (preferably, white eggs) ($2.50 for dozen eggs)
- 1x 32 oz bottle of white vinegar ($2)
- 1x 16 oz bottle light corn syrup ($3)

- Computer with internet access
- Camera/phone camera with the ability to upload digital photos
- Ruler
- Measuring cups (liquid & dry)
- Measuring spoons
- Mixing bowls (or other large bowl)
- Writing utensils (pen/pencil/sharpie)
- 4 spoons
- White light bulb (can be borrowed from an existing lamp for 2 weeks) or room where a white light can be left on 24/7 for two weeks.
