Purpose
This activity aims to deepen your understanding of real-world applications of AI in education, encouraging critical reflection on its potential benefits and challenges, and fostering proactive thinking on how educators can integrate and adapt to these emerging technologies in their teaching practices.
Instructions
- Read through the use cases in the Ithaka S+R publication, Generative AI in Higher Education: The Product Landscape, which is part of their Making AI Generative for Higher Education project. This document explores how AI tools are integrated into higher education, with contributions from UBalt highlighting practical applications and insights. This publication includes a product landscape overview, setting the stage for a deeper exploration of their Generative AI Product Tracker later in the course.
- Based on the use cases, consider the following questions:
- What are your current general feelings about AI, including opportunities and hopes, as well as challenges and worries?
- How can you and your colleagues evolve teaching practices to accommodate these generative AI applications?
- How can generative AI enrich the discovery, understanding, and/or creation phases of research for your students?
- Which current elements or movements in education should we continue advancing, and how can AI tools support these foundational elements?
Follow your instructor’s directions for submitting this assignment to your LMS or elsewhere.
