Prevalence of Suicide in the College Population

If we apply national statistics of suicide rates on college campuses to a campus the size of The University of Baltimore (4,000 students), then during the past year:
- More than 400 students thought about suicide.
- More than 280 students made a suicide plan.
- 60 students have attempted suicide.
- 16 suicide attempts required medical attention.
- The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention notes that suicide is the second leading cause of death for ages 10 to 34 and the fourth leading cause of death for ages 35 to 44.
