Your role doesn’t end when the immediate crisis is over. After a person has revealed their suicidal thoughts to you, you can still be helpful by:
- Maintaining confidentiality—only share personal information with those who need to know in order to keep supporting and protecting the person
- Checking in with the person when you see him or her again—don’t avoid the person
- Consulting with Compass Case Management, the Student Assistance Program, the Employee Assistance Program, or other community resources if you still have concerns about the person.

- For medical emergencies, dial 911.
- If you or someone you know is in crisis, visit the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline or call 1-800-273-8255.
- For support resources for UBalt students, faculty, and staff, visit the Office of Student Support or call the Student Assistance Program at 1-800-327-2251.
