10 Self-Experience

Many interesting articles relating to research methods. Two articles related to research methods stood out most. First article was, “Indigenous Research Methods: A Systematic Review”. Indigenous research methods are not specifically defined. Indigenous research methods contribute by providing in-depth otherwise overlooked information. The second article, “Learning in the Field: An Introduction to Qualitative Research” introduces research methods to entry-level researchers as well as professional researchers. Qualitative research contributes to knowledge because researchers gather different sources of information to answer questions about world issues. Direct knowledge obtained through physical senses in qualitative research is defined as empiricism (Rossman p. 5). Direct personal experience that educates the mind is the research method most comfortable for me. Indigenous research without specific definition to obtain different types of information is the form of research I am familiar with by questioning life or how I can make life better.

Indigenous research compares to all research methods because any method of research is used to obtain information, gain knowledge, and provide solutions to world issues. Qualitative and quantitative research methods incorporated with real life experiences lean toward Indigenous research. These specific research methods are challenging for several reasons because they can be used at any given time of the research. Challenges are sure to distract my research due to the use of different research methods. Another challenge is the fact of not being sure of the direction but reaching some form of conclusion to attain answers to world questions until satisfied with end results or resolutions. If research is not challenging – other questions must be presented until it becomes challenging.
